I managed to get down to my local polling station to cast my vote at around 8:30pm. Before that however, I made several rounds making deliveries of orders. The sun was out, in-car music was loud & tweeting got interesting on twitter (www.twitter.com/phoshii). Common 1st reactions-"it looks even better in real life". All in all, May 6 was a good day. (If only Gordon Brown could say the same).

MIND OVER MATTER - WELCOME TO LAGOS (ON BBC2)

Welcome to Lagos was aired on BBC2 on Thursday. At first I was unhappy because I felt it was a misrepresentation of Lagos as I know Lagos to have beautiful sceneries & is absolutely well developed. However as I watched on I was amazed at how the peoples of the slum had transformed their story from living in abject poverty at a refuse dump to what seemed like a local stock-exchange trade-floor. Despite the adversities they face, the people quickly adapted to their environment seeing opportunities where others see junk. Joseph seen in the last photo had such a moving story, from a tough childhood to hard-work on the dumps in order to finance a 1st birthday for his little girl. I found inspiration in the programme, which not only reiterates the saying "Necessity is the mother of Invention" but reminded me that wealth is substance that is created, where ever, in the stock market, shopping mall or even a refuse dump. Once we can exercise mind over matter, we can spot opportunities in the most unusual places. (Photos courtesy of BBC website)

Recently, a few of my close friends have heard me refer to myself as insane. For a person whose thinking is positive-orientated,it seemed unthinkable that I'd say that. However, looking at Einstein's definition of insanity, I'm rightfully doing the same thing over & over again; I keep believing & believing. & I am expecting a different result; in that even though things have not yet materialised, I'm expecting that they will. It's quite simple. & actually, I'm enjoying my journey on insanity street. I'll let y'all when I turn the corner unto Success Lane.

This is a subject matter which has been on my heart of recent. That it's a good thing to have role models because they help us believe that our dreams/goals are achieveable. Sometimes however while appreciating others and how far they have come, there's a tendency to start wishing we were just like them.
We are all created to be individuals & even when we are all working towards the achievement of a similar purpose, we each have different routes to lead us to our destiny. Sometimes we lose sight of this end up living the dreams/lives of others. But the question is if you're not living your life, then who is? Don't aim to be the next David Beckham, aim to be the best footballer in 'you'. Don't aim to be the next Obama, aim to be the best politician 'you'.
We should admire those who have worked to achieve high standards in their vocation, but we must each also be true to oursleves. We are all on the race-tracks of life, heading towards destiny. Know your lane and stay in it. Be Authentic.

DEVELOPING THE EAGLE ATTITUDE - by DR MYLES MUNROE

1. Eagles fly alone at a high altitude and do not mix with sparrows or other smaller birds like geese. Birds of a feather flock together. No other bird goes to the height of the eagle. Eagles fly alone. Never in a flock. Stay away from sparrows and ravens. Eagles fly alone.
2. Eagles have strong vision, which focuses up to 5 kilometers from the air. When an eagle sites prey- even a rodent from this distance, he narrows his focus on it and sets out to get it. No matter the obstacle, the eagle will not move his focus from the prey until he grabs it. Have a vision and remain focused no matter what the obstacle and you will succeed.
3. Eagles do not eat dead things. He feeds on fresh prey. Vultures eat dead animals but not eagles. Steer clear of outdated and old information. Do your research well, always.
4. The Eagle is the only bird that loves the storm. When clouds gather, the eagles get excited. The eagle uses the wings of the storm to rise and is pushed up higher. Once it finds the wing of the storm, the eagle stops flapping and uses the pressure of the raging storm to soar the clouds and glide. This gives the eagle an opportunity to rest its wings. In the meantime all the other birds hide in the leaves and branches of the trees. We can use the storms of our lives (obstacles, trouble, etc) to rise to greater heights. Achievers relish challenges and use them profitably.
5. Eagles find a place of renewal. When the Eagle grows old, his feathers become weak and cannot take him as fast as he should. When he feels weak and about to die, he retires to a place far away in the rocks. While there, he plucks out every feather on his body until he is completely bare. He stays in this hiding place until he has grown new feathers, then he can come out. We occasionally need to shed off old habits & items that burden us and add no value to our lives.

In 2006 Eddie Kadi won the BECA Award for Best Comedy Newcomer. Since then he's been nominated for the Channel 4 Talent Comedy Awards, hosted his own radio show on the BBC, presented a TV series on OHTV and had six sold-out solo concerts - two of those in 2009 at the 2000 capacity indigO2.

Just thought I'd post this up as it's been an area of focus for me lately & perhaps many others who may be seriously putting in work to make their dreams of today tomorrow's reality. Sometimes we become over-endulgent in the achievement of tasks that we forget the essence of life itself. Im currently working on keeping a good spiritual, business & social balance in my life. A defficiency in one area may eventually affect another. Especially ones creative side. As the saying goes, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy".

Having grown up in both South East Asia and the UK, she draws upon the experience of this mixed background to provide a significant influence in her work. SRI's inspiration is the synthesis of her exposure to, and interest in diverse cultures, with ideas being generated from an abundant spectrum of visual, mythological and multicultural sources. I had the chance to exchange a few words between all the compliments & hugs that were coming her way. She's a pretty lady with a personality to match. I can relate to her art as her work depicts dynamism, clear black & white art on one hand a colourful bout of artistic outflow on the other. FIRST THINGS FIRST ... EAT THAT FROG!
Have you had the edge to call someone you haven't spoken to in ages but delay in doing it when the thought comes to you & they end up calling you & you try to tell them you meant to call them but they dont believe you?
Have you had an idea for a project but delay getting started on it & before you know it someone else has conceived the same idea & run away with it & you're left beating yourself up about it?
There are many elements which kill our dreams & PROSCRASTINATION is at the height of them. We know this because some of us haven't been able to fully shake it off eitehr. Many of us are Proscrastinaters!
Eat that Frog, is a metaphor for tackling your most challenging/time consuming task of the day. The idea is that if the first thing you have do each morning is to eat a live frog, it doesnt pay to sit & look at it for a very long time. Besides you can go through the day with the satisfaction of knowing that that is probably the worst thing that is going to happen to you all day long.
Many of us are still fighting the bug of proscrastination. This is a personal test for some of us & surely with time & exercise, we shall OVERCOME!

Nike teams up with East London's Dizzee Rascal to mark the launch of his forth album 'Tongue N' Cheek'. With three independent #1 singles on his Dirty Stank Record label, Dizzee has been making big moves for minute! He's no longer the 'Boy In The Corner'. He's really out there and has come a long way since we were listening to him since school days.
These sneakers will be released on Friday, September 18 and will be available exclusively at Nike 1948, Bateman's Row in Shoreditch. The release precedes the launch of his album which include hit singles 'Dance Wiv Me', 'Bonkers' and 'Holiday'.
We're loving Dizzee's business movements. His talent is bringing him in nicely. Although he's had challenging ordeals in the past (which is no secret), he's stuck to his graft and it appears to be paying off nicely! Who knows, perhaps he may team up with Robert Greene and come up with 'The Dizzee Laws' :) Big thums up Dizzee !

This joint book venture was first brought to our attention when we were tagged in a photo of it on facebook. Thanks to Mr T Chiedozie for the heads-up.
The book is written by hip-hop mogul Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson & business guru Robert Greene who originally wrote the popular book entitled 'The 48 Laws of Power'. The book dubbed as 'Hustler's Bible' speaks of the life experiences and laws (so to speak) for its outlook in order to generate a positive result. The book is said to provide simple success strategies for the urban hustler.
The 50th Law, which is due to be published this fall includes chapters such as 'Hood Economics' & Turn Doodoo into Sugar-Opportunism. This may just be next on our reading list ! ... because Talent Alone Is Never Enough !

WHAT'S THIS ABOUT ? ? ?

While in Oxford Street last week I witnessed a crowd gathering in one spot and so I decided to find out what was causing the hault. The guy pictured above had basically spead out canvases on the floor and was doing a live pastil drawing which was so impressive that people who were interested in his work took down his details to contract him for personal projects. As everyone was taking pictures I decided to take a few also with my phone.
On my journey home, I felt a lesson was learned in what I had witnessed. Firstly, that, we are given gifts and we have to explore and develop those gifts. Lee, the fella in the picture was showing his talent to people's amazement. Each of is like a tree, with seeds of talent built inside us, and when we nurture those gifts and bear fruit, our fruits (talents) will attract people to us as was the case with Lee.
Secondly, Lee was not intimidated by the busy atmosphere which is common in Oxford Street. To gain the attention we deserve,we have to put ourselves out there. There is saying that "doing business without advertising is like winking at a pretty girl in the dark, only you know what you're doing". No one will appreciate your talent if they don't know what you do!
I took down Lee's contact details. I've got ideas for a portrait for my wall ;) WHAT'S YOUR TALENT?

During this month, we have posted quotes on TIME elements. Since having graduated from university, we have adopted both the employee and entrepreneur status as have most of our friends. Combining the two occupations in the current economic climate is far from easy and as a result, time management factors are a big part of our conversations when we meet.
In all our discussions and from expansive reading we have come to conclude the following:
Plan your day ahead, distinguishing urgent tasks from important ones as the two are not the same. You can decide what to do at what time by analysing the consequences of doing or failing to do a particular task. In deciding which tasks to engage in, always ask yourself, "what is the best use of my time right now"?

__________________________________________ MICHAEL JACKSON - DEPARTURE OF A LEGEND X After much speculation, it was sadly confirmed in the late hours of last night that the pop mogul Michael Jackson had passed away after having suffered a heart attack.
His death had the whole world glued to televisions and computers. We personally will remember Michael Jackson for his great works and for making the music which we all love and which for us personally, brings vivid memories to our childhood, recalling songs of our young days such as 'Black Or White' and 'We Are The World'.
We can all learn a thing or two from this legend; that when he stands before God, he can say to God, that "I have appeared before you empty, having used up all the talent you invested in me and used it to serve people, bringing joy and upliftment to their hearts through music".
